10 easy tips to save you money

Filed under: Personal Finance — Jason @ 9:20 am

As I am super busy with buying a house right now, and Aimee is swamped with work, here is something to keep you going until we can get back to writing. 10 simple and easy tips to save you money.

1. Make your lunch
It’s so easy I’m surprised more people don’t do it. If an average sandwich is $5 a pop and you buy one each day you’re at work, then over a year it’s going to cost you about $1,200 (assuming you have 28 days holiday which is more than most people will get). Get into the habit of rustling up your own food and you can easily pocket half of that cash, using the other half to bulk buy your groceries at the supermarket.

You can really save money by making your own food rather than buying them.. and not only that, you can be sure that the food you eat is clean..

Well have taken food to University on a few occasions and yes the saves are immense, I just keep running out of crisps and bread. Often you will find items like crisps work out at half price when you buy them in large packs (two dozen, etc) then take them to work.

The article states to buy the next level down in items. Personally I buy the good stuff in bulk when it’s on ‘buy one get one free’ usually it costs less than the supermarket brand stuff and is better. On items such as beans this is great as they just don’t go out of date :D
