I have just started a Dog Walking and Home Boarding Service in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
This is a new domain name that I registered on
Jan 29 2010
I have just achieved a PR1 for the Home Page and a PR2 for the internal walking page.
This is was 2 months after I launched the site.

I know the feeling about waiting for a Page Rank. I changed domain names through necessity. My original domain was on PR3 when I did this. Now I'm stuck in the invisible world of no page rank. Am waiting to be re-ranked but it's really tedious..... :-)

To get a higher page rank first of all you need to be patient, it’ll not come in a day requires quality of work, share your link with different relevant directories to your website.
Reciprocal link exchanges, inbound and outbound linking these are some of the factor that affect your website page rank big time.

Yep... that is me, stuggling to get a page rank. But then again I'm too impatient. I started my blog and then let it sit for several months, and have just recently started blogging again.

I'm a little late to this one but there are a number of things I wanted to comment on.

Google updates their index on a daily basis it is a process known as 'everflux'. They used to update on a monthly basis but stopped in 2003 in there quest to become the major search engine player.

Your PR is a different matter and the reason you won't get a PR immediately or within a month is due to Googles efforts to filter out the spam sites. They look at this every 3 - 5 months so if your site is younger than this you might as well forget it.

With regards to getting links I wouldn't rely on blog comments to push your PR up, like you say most have 'nofollow' tags and the ones that don't will provide no real link juice. You see every new comment on a page reduces the amount of link juice or weight flowing from it.

Directories are the first place to start when starting a new site. There are thoudsands out there and all will provide you with inbound quality links until your site is established and people are bugging you for links. In the early days no established webmasters will exchange links as they think it will pull down their page rank, which is just a complete myth.

Once you have your directory links flowing nicely try article marketing or guest blogging. This will give you a chance to anchor your text and place your link amongst ultra relevant content.

Your right in what you say it is a waiting game with regards to page rank but optimise correctly and keep things ethical and you will get there.

Your a PR2 now congrats, still for the age of the site you should be PR4 or PR5. 28000 subscribers though!!! You need to share your secrets with me on that one.

If you want to exchange links with my site http://www.seowizz.net/ let me know.

I'm just starting my blog as well and just doing a bit of background info gathering on how long to obtain a page rank, what the impact is, and when something like Alexa will be updated for me.

I've been waiting for a long time to have at least PR 1 on my blog http://make-homemade-fragrances.blogspot.com..Its been almost 4 months already but still my blog rest under PR 0.

How will I know that google is crawling my site? Is there a way to find out? And how will I know that the site that I'm commenting has a do follow feature in their blogs?

Thanks

Bobby

I know your pain. The funny thing is, my site finally went up to a PR1 and then back to PR0 a few days later. I don't get it. I guess we all just have to wait on Google.
