Introduction - A financial journey

Filed under: Personal Finance — Aimee @ 2:44 pm

Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I am a 26 year old, woman who was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I grew up in a family that didn’t have very much, our family was on government assistance with two parents who were visually impared (one legally blind and one fully blind) and neither of them have worked throughout my life. This meant that we didn’t have a lot of money to spend on things that we wanted. We got all of our clothes second hand, we almost never went on family vacations, and when we did, it usually wasn’t more than an hour or two away from home.

To be honest I don’t feel like I missed out on a lot, but there have been times where I have felt that I was missing out. I appreciate the fact that because of my situation I have always known that I would have to work for anything that I get. This has given me the passion for taking control of my future.

While I love my job, I want the time and the freedom to do what I want, without having to worry about whether or not I can pay my bills every month. I want to have kids and give them a life of comfort and freedom while still teaching them the value of money and working hard for what they want.  I want to be able to give my parents the things that they have never had like a house that they can call their own and the ability to be independant and to plan for the future.

I ask myself “Isn’t there a way that I can have financial freedom NOW?”

While this obviously won’t happen right away, if I plan well enough ahead to reach my goals, I can begin my life of freedom much earlier than most people would think possible.

Through reading about different methods I have discovered the power that a little bit of knowledge can give me to steer my future in the right direction, and to help me reach my goals sooner.

Anyone can achieve financial freedom, as long as they learn a few basic facts. Within this section of FOXIMUS, I will share with you what I have discovered about the joy of taking control of  your finances, and your future. I will bring you with me on my journey to financial freedom.
