Milestone!!!

It is a proud day for us here at Foximus. Today we passed the 10,000 spam comments mark. I would like to thank all the spammers that added our site to thier lists, and all the hard work they do to try and make all our penises longer while teaching how to make it big playing on-line blackjack.

You do realize that your blog is on the dofollow list, right?

That’s probably a major reason for the spam.

Congratulations on the milestone. What are your traffic figures then? Are you seeing this translating into any real numbers?

Whatever it is, is a milestone. My Akismet is very happy to eat a couple of hundreds spam comments a day and it never feel hungry. I think i am going to achieve that milestone very soon.

What a milestone it is. Good work Akisemt. I think Akismet loves to eat all spams. Did you ever check some of comments in Akisemt? I always delete them without reading, is it good or I should read or look some of them?

Do you ever find a valid comment in Akismet’s quarantine? I think Akismet is very intelligent and it can smell easily that who is spam and who is not.

Dang, atleast Askimet deals with most of those spams. I’ve only had 500 spam caught by Askimet (and another 100 manually dealt with.) You might want to try BadBehaviour, it cuts out most of the bots before they get a chance to spam you in the first place

I still find the:

“Good information, thanks”

Style comments get through Askimet, which is really annoying

Hi adhs, and Steve,

Sometimes we do find good comments in the spam filter but I think we’re getting too many now for it to be worth checking.

Akismet is intelligent, yes. But I don’t think it is prepared for the SEO spam. I mean, like you said, we have the ““Good information, thanks”. In France, we called it the “Super lien, encore merci”…

All of the question is, is it necessary to do a moderation, or not ? The tools based on reputation and votes are not good to validate a comment. We still need a human eye… not an akismet script.
