What motivation do you use to keep blogging? This can be a very tough question, especially if you are just starting out. There are many ways to keep yourself motivated, but I think you have to be doing it for the right reasons.
It can be a very difficult thing to blog simply to try and make money. Believe I have tried. I tried to run a bunch of blogs on a whole array of topics that had great paying keywords. I worked my ass off and had everything set up. It was sooo boring, these were topics I had no interest in at all so trying to write content for them was horrible. Money is nice but for me, it is not enough motivation to do something that I do not like.
I know there are some that can do this, and I am sure they Make Money Online, but it is just too much like a job. It’s almost like you are working for someone else, you don’t get to write what you want to. So for me, money was just not enough motivation.
So now we have Foximus. A blog that is about subjects that I know and love to talk about. So is that enough motivation to keep at it? Sometimes it is, sometimes it can still be really hard. There are times when you are tired. There are times when you have writers block. There are times when a post you thought was very good is not well received. There are times when you check your traffic stats and wonder what happened. So how do we stay motivate when something like this happens?
The first thing I have done is make a place to blog. A seperate area where you can concentrate with not too many distractions, and you can be comfortable. Comfort is a big thing. I used to have my laptop next to my bed, and just lean over to type and I would not get as much done because of where I was. So I went and got myself a big ass table, and a super comfortable chair. What a difference if you can sit for a few hours and not worry about being sore.
Atmosphere is also important. Enough light so you don’t go blind. I have my music playing the while time I am sitting here, it helps me concentrate. I never have the TV on, but I don’t really use it other than for playing Xbox 360 or watching movies. I also make sure I have a drink, snack if I’m hungry, smokes and lighter. This way I don’t have to get up at all.
So now you are all set up. Now what the hell do I write about? Well that really depends on what type of blogger you are.
– Pure Love Blogger
These bloggers are writng just for themselves. They use their blog as an outlet, or personal journal. They don’t really care if anyone else reads it at all. the motivation is pure personal satisfaction and they don’t need anything else. I have a blog like that, and sometimes I will write 5 times in one day, and sometimes not for a week. But it is just fun for me so I don’t need to worry about any other motivation.
– Pure Money Blogger
These blogger are out to make some cash. They can have multiple blogs, all there to make some cash through advertising. The top motivation has to be money as I don’t see how you can have any fun writing about things that don’t interest you. But I guess it’s the same motivation that causes people to get up and go to work every day. Food, heat, roof over the head, stuff like that.
– For fun, but hope for cash Blogger
This is kind of a mix of the other two. They write about things they love, or have a lot of knowledge about. They also hope that they can make some cash along the way. This can be a huge motivation when they are starting out. Who would not like to blog about the things they love and make their living along the way? But this type of blogger are the one’s that can get discouraged the most.
There are so many things to consider and it can be quite overwhelming during the start-up phase. In the next part of this post we will go over many of the things you must consider, the obsticles that can arise and some tips on how to overcome them.
